On August 12 ^th, 2026, a total solar eclipse will be visible from Iceland for the first time since 1954.
The path of totality crosses the Westfjords, Snæfellsnes peninsula, the capital area and the Reykjanes peninsula.

This is the first total eclipse to be visible from Reykjavík since June 17, 1433.

Due to preparation on behalf of the air navigation services, airspace users are requested to send information on intended flights within Reykjavik control area due to the event to procedures@avians.is.

This applies specifically to i.e. scientific flights and eclipse sightseeing flights that will follow the eclipse from the air.
